{"id":376,"date":"2015-10-06T09:42:27","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T09:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pehesse.fr\/honey\/?p=376"},"modified":"2016-06-26T06:21:49","modified_gmt":"2016-06-26T06:21:49","slug":"honey-status-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pehesse.fr\/honey\/en\/2015\/10\/honey-status-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Honey Status Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/36.media.tumblr.com\/567eb8e3a84291a96354ec5c25d87485\/tumblr_nvslcgoucF1s5t3fko1_1280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1021\" height=\"762\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2014-Honey Status Report:\u2014-<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m breaking radio silence to update you on what\u2019s been going on lately, namely: lots!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I\u2019ve reworked the match logic for the earlier fights, meaning greatly expanded AI functionality and (hopefully) greater stability, but that also means a few new bugs have crept in that I must now find and squash.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I\u2019ve also redesigned many of the main processes behind the visual novel segment. It means better memory optimization, shorter loading times, and a bit more margin for me to cram in additional images without breaking the memory banks! Again, as it\u2019s a pretty major change, some new bugs have crept in, and while I\u2019ve taken care of a great deal of them, very special and rare cases may occur than I\u2019ll need to track down and fix (we still haven\u2019t managed to see all the possible text\/event cases in all of our test playthroughs!)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; redone the title screen functionality to accomodate for \u201cnew game +\u201d type content. Oh yeah! There\u2019s going to be some of that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I\u2019ve expanded the contents of Honey\u2019s Room quite a lot. Possible dialog now ranges in the couple hundreds! I\u2019m not going to list all of the changes, as I\u2019d like some to be surprises, but you may want to keep your eyes open as the game progresses!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I\u2019m in the process of writing the missing dialog for events (LOTS of these still), and rewriting\/adding dialog to some of the most egregious cases of repeated speech (namely, the parent interactions). Due to the nature of randomness, I can\u2019t completely erase the repetition factor, but I\u2019m hopeful it\u2019ll eventually feels dynamic enough.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; the first trailer is almost done, working on sound\/music now!<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s next, then? We\u2019re getting to where it\u2019s now shorter to do a \u201cwhat\u2019s missing\u201d list, so here\u2019s an approximate of what\u2019s coming:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; October: script writing\/event dialog, to get as much ready as possible for the end of october closed-testing demo. Working double-time to get it ready in time!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; November\/December: the one vs. many segments. Earlier prototypes have proven unconvincing, so I\u2019m scrapping everything and starting over on that aspect. Redesigned them on paper as well, as I\u2019ll be using a base much closer to the match fights now, rather than a completely different thing meant to replicate the feel. Should hopefully make it easier to build, but that\u2019ll still require a lot of time, and a lot of asset making, ie. enemy animations!<\/p>\n<p>-Early to mid 2016:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; there are a few special matches left to work on. They\u2019ll require additional animation (less than any of the three main matches, though), and logic (though I\u2019ll be able to reuse most of the match logic from the other fights if the october testing shows they\u2019re resilient enough). I\u2019m planning for a match\/month, but we\u2019ll see how that goes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; rest of the script\/event filling. Couple hundred of those left.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; shell functionality: menus, gamepad support, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; extras! depending on how early\/late in the year I\u2019ll be at that point, I have quite a list of extras planned. I\u2019d hate to consider adding it as DLC later, even for free, as I\u2019d like the game to be the most \u201ccomplete package\u201d it can be on release (not going to expand on that here for now, but release model\/pricing is something that\u2019s being thoroughly examined as well).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; possibly some other trailers. I\u2019ve got the groundwork covered for those, I\u2019ll just need to see if the time investment will make sense!<\/p>\n<p>\u2026and that\u2019s about it! So in short: still a lot to do, but the \u201cto-do\u201d list is getting shorter with every passing day.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m also going to show less and less as time goes on, as I\u2019ll be working on stuff I\u2019d like to keep as surprises. I\u2019d also like to avoid tiring you before the game is actually done! There\u2019ll still be updates when I have exciting and not-too-spoilery elements to show, though \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s in for now!
